Lymington's new four

Lymington's ARC's vice president, Alan Goodall, launched the club's new coastal four which bears his name in December. The addition to the fleet was purchased with the help of a Lottery grant for new equipment, which also includes the safety and coaching rigid inflatable and outboard motor, towards which the New Forest District Council also awarded a grant of £1000.

The new coastal four uses carbon fibre technology. It has a twin skin hull with foam core and was constructed by Burgashell, with Lymington RC contributing to the design. The all up weight of the 30 feet boat is a credible 70 kg and has a dimensional stateroom layout comparable to inland racing craft. This is a departure from the offset and overlapping slide/stretcher configuration of the traditional coastal four, and may make the boat of interest to non coastal clubs.
