The Other Boat Races It has become increasingly common for rival university boat clubs to stage their own derby Boat Races. The Newcastle Universities Boat Race each summer, the Northern Universities Boat Race between Manchester and Salford, and the Bristol Universities Boat Race, all have their place. Furthermore, the women's and lightweight crews of Oxford and Cambridge Universities have their own set of races, six days before the Aberdeen Asset Management Trophy is fought over. These 2000-metre races take place over the reverse Henley Royal Regatta course in Henley-on-Thames, and this year are on 28th March.
